HAI® Nature N1
DOKK1 is a striking building on the waterfront in Aarhus, designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects. Located where Aarhus Å meets Aarhus Bay, DOKK1 functions as a cultural meeting point for the city's citizens and visitors. The building is a central part of the revitalization of the former industrial area on the harbor and connects the city with the water.
The facade of DOKK1 is a perfect example of how modern architecture meets functionality. The building is enveloped in 8.000 square meters of expanded metal in anodised aluminium, supplied and treated by HAI. The surface treatment in our HAI® Natural color ensures long-term durability and protects against the harsh coastal climate, while at the same time matching the raw, industrial harbor aesthetic.
DOKK1 houses, among other things, Aarhus' main library, Citizen Service and a number of other functions that make it a central platform for the city's citizens. The building's design also includes an impressive 6.600 square meter glass facade that allows natural light to flood in and provides stunning views of both the city and the harbour.
HAI is proud to have been part of this project, where our anodizing technology has contributed to creating a facade that is not only beautiful, but also resistant. Our expertise in aluminum surface treatment ensures that DOKK1 will retain its aesthetic and functional expression for many years to come.
