Hotel Alsik, located in the heart of Sønderborg's waterfront, is a modern architectural gem that presents an elegant fusion of traditional Nordic design and innovative sustainable solutions. The 19-storey building, designed by the renowned architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects, was inaugurated in early summer 2019 and is a central element of the visionary master plan drawn up by award-winning Canadian architect Frank Gehry.
Alsik is not just a hotel; it is also an example of Sønderborg's ambitious goal of becoming CO2 neutral by 2029. With a current CO2 neutrality of 76%, the hotel continuously implements new green solutions, making it a demonstrator for the region's leading clean tech companies. This focus on sustainability is an integral part of the hotel's design and operation, creating an environmentally friendly stay for guests.
The facade's modern cassettes, anodized in a specially developed HAI® gray colour, gives the building a unique visual identity and refers to the historic brick buildings in Sønderborg. Hotel Alsik creates a harmonious link between the charm of the past and the innovation of today, making it a popular choice among locals and visitors alike.
